September 14 - Remote Possibilites

I'm glad to say that I'm not one of them people who has a hundred remotes lying around the house. Nope. I have one for each room, and I leave it as it is. I tend to use all-in-one remotes from Logitech and Philips touchscreen remote for controlling most of my utilities, but now, I could find myself adding a new remote to my collection. No, not the Logitech Harmony 1000 (Do I look like a millionaire?), but a rather intelligent Xbox 360 remote from Nyko. Infared, back-lit buttons and auto-power down are all great, but what's so special about them? Nothing. But what impressed me, is that the remote learns the functions from existing remotes. Just point them and use them with the Nyko remote on, and it should (hopefully) pick up all of the functions that remote uses. The Xbox 360 remote from Nyko has specialised 'Gaming Buttons', which are admittedly useless at gaming. Stick to your official controllers. They're the most practical if you plan on gaming. Though having the buttons on the remote does look fancy, yes. It makes it shout out 'I own an Xbox 360, look! Look!' Especially useful if you have your console tucked away in a corner.
