September 21 - Hammond Crash


Richard Hammond, the internationaly famous 'Braniac' and 'Top Gear' TV show presenter, has crashed while attempting to break the British landspeed record whilst fiming for Top Gear. Hammond was driving a rocketpowered dragster and was travelling at 280mph (4 times the British speed limit), when the car veered over onto grass by the runway, flipped and smashed into the ground at an extremely high speed. This happened at the RAF Elvington airfield near York. The BBC said in a statement that they were: 'Looking into all the factors of this accident and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage until we know the full situation.' The accident occured yesterday and was reported on the BBC News website at 7:20 yesterday. Images via BBC.
